Volunteering for Stable Hands can be described as one of the most rewarding experiences that you will have in your life. You will have the opportunity to work with some very special people. Stable Hands’ volunteers are so very important to the success of our program. Volunteers come from all over Siskiyou County, and you can be one of them!
What do our volunteers do? Some of the roles of a volunteer include:
- Grooming horses
- Tacking up horses
- Warming up horses
- Side walking with riders who need special assistance
- Horse leading for riders who need special assistance
- Gate keeping
- Arena setup
Who Can Volunteer?
We ask that you be able to walk outdoors on varied terrain/ground for 60 minutes at a time, willing to commit two to four hours per week for an eight week session, be comfortable working around horses and enjoy working with people.
If you would like to volunteer and the physical demands might be too much, we can always use volunteers cleaning tack, helping with fund raising and in the office.
Please contact our office for more information at (530) 842-3082.
